STEPHANIE O’DONNELL
technical specialist
Stephanie graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Sydney. She continued to conduct conservation research with the Shine Lab, one of Australia’s foremost ecology centres. During her time as a Research Assistant, she produced four peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals and was awarded the Southwood Prize (2010) by the British Ecological Society for best paper by a young author.
Stephanie is responsible for our geographic information systems, remote sensing analysis and FullCAM modelling within Redd Forests.
JARRAH VERCOE
project manager
Jarrah has a Bachelor of Science with first class (Honours) from the University of Tasmania, 2003. His honours research evaluated voluntary conservation on private land within Tasmania. Following graduation, Jarrah worked as an environmental consultant for 3 years with international consulting firm GHD. In 2008, he delivered a large Commonwealth Government “Caring for our Country” project across Tasmania. Prior to joining Redd Forests, Jarrah was the biodiversity coordinator with Tasmania’s Natural Resource Management (South).
Jarrah is passionate about working with land managers to demonstrate that carbon markets are a profitable alternative to wood chipping, while maintaining the invaluable ecosystem services provided by native forests.
Jarrah is currently responsible for engaging new project proponents and overseeing the implementation of the Grouped Project in Tasmania.
JOSIE KELMAN
project manager
Dr Josephine Kelman is an environmental management specialist who has particular interest in monitoring and evaluation projects for conservation purposes. Her recently completed PhD (University of Queensland) focused on the use of multivariate statistical techniques to improve understanding in large conservation evaluation datasets. She has also lectured in Integrated Landscape Management, Experimental Techniques (biostatistics) and Ecology.
Josie has worked in the environmental management field for the past 12 years. She has worked primarily providing technical and management advice on conservation projects to landholders, community groups and Local and State Governments. Her main research interests are management effectiveness in conservation and optimization of resources for conservation purposes.
Josie will lead the afforestation/reforestation project team at Redd Forests.
BEATRIZ GARCIA
policy and programs specialist
Dr Beatriz Garcia was born in Brazil and pursued a Law degree at the University of Brasilia. She holds a Ph.D. in International Law from The Graduate Institute in Geneva. She has written a book on the legal protection of the Amazon published in 2011 by Cambridge University Press. She has worked at the Biodiversity and Climate Change Section of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) particularly on projects aimed at promoting trade and investment in biodiversity products and services from the Amazon. She has held positions as legal advisor at government agencies in Brazil and provided counsel for institutions such as the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization, The Earth Council Geneva and a few UN agencies. More recently she has been associated with the Australian Centre for Climate and Environmental Law at Sydney Law School.
Beatriz will head up Redd Forests’ international REDD and Biodiversity programs and projects

STEPHEN DICKEY

Stephen is the founder and Managing Director of Redd Forests and has worked on climate change issues for the past 6 years firstly with Oxfam and WWF-Australia and then as consultant to the carbon offsetting company Climate Friendly for whom he brokered a 50% sale of the company to Macquarie Bank.
Stephen is an experienced senior manager having worked on four continents in various positions with TNT, British Airways and Sabre Corporation. He has successfully run his own business in the UK and is a Director of the International Forest Carbon Association, .
Stephen’s broad based international commercial experience, combined with his depth of knowledge on the science and practicalities of climate change give him a rare set of capabilities and perspectives to lead Redd Forests.
ANDREW RATCLIFFE

Andrew Ratcliffe is founder and executive director of Incon China. Incon China was set up to work with the Shenzhen Economic and Trade Representative Office( SETRO) to assist small to medium businesses to do business in China. Andrew is also a director of Sports Entertainment Asia and Smartframe Pty Ltd.
Andrew spent almost twenty years working in the Financial Sector. Commencing work with Price Waterhouse in 1977 Andrew subsequently held senior positions in the banking and finance sector with the ANZ Bank, First Pacific Limited and the stockbroker Dominguez Barry Samuel Montague (now UBS).
Andrew has a combined Commerce/ Law degree from UNSW and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
GERNOT HEISER

Gernot Heiser is Founder, Director and Scientific Consultant of Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs), a high-tech startup headquartered in Chicago with all R&D based in Sydney.
Gernot is also John Lions Professor of Operating Systems at the University of New South Wales, and leader of the Embedded Operating-Systems research group at NICTA, Australia’s Centre of Excellence in ICT research.
Gernot holds a BSc Physics from the University of Freiburg, Germany, an MSc in Physics from Brock University, Canada, and a PhD in Computer Science from ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

JAN CAMERON

Jan Cameron is a philanthropist with a deep concern about the environment and the threat of climate change.
Jan shuns the spotlight but has developed a reputation for making prudent investments. In the 1970s she founded the adventure retail company Kathmandu as well as high-end home wares stores Nood (New Objects Of Desire) and Dog’s Breakfast.
